In the early spring the mother Polar bear comes out of her den with her new cubs. She hasn't eaten for a LONG time and she is still nursing her little ones. It is seriously time for a meal so she will head to the ice to try and get that taken care of. I would imagine trying to hunt while patiently taking care of the babies is a lot like trying to sew or paint with young ones under foot. Makes you kind of want to go drop off something to eat doesn't it.
