From a very young age mother bears teach their babies to scamper up a tree if there is danger around and they are NOT allowed to come down until she says they can. This isn't just a "time out" it is an absolute command. Can you imagine how bored they become? They obey though because if they don't mom carries a big paw with claws on it. Then they are old enough to be on their own she sends them up a tree and just takes off. The Kids stay up there until hunger and thirst supersede their fear.
